Sightseeing tours of Turino

Leaving by bus from La Norma via the Frejus Tunnel, the tour guide will show you around the cathedral (St Suaire)and the Consolata baroque sanctuary. You can shop down-town or visit museums. The bus will return via Suza and the Mont-Cenis mountain pass.

The Esseillon Forts

    The fortified buildings of Esseillon (5km from La Norma) which collectively formed a barrier for the entire valley against the invading armies take you back in time to yesteryear. They tell the story of how continued attacks pushed the Sard people of the XIX century to build these impressive forts to protect themselves.

Open for visits every day except Saturday. Donations accepted.

The Forts of St Gobain
 St Gobain (only 6 km from La Norma - road Modane / le Bourget) represents a section of the Maginot Line and is, therefore, a historical underground monument from the 2nd world war.

La maison penchée
 Which makes you lose all sense of direction and balance! Situated on the road to Valfréjus and the Fréjus Tunnel. No entrance fee.

Railway Tunnel Monument
This monument was built during the first railway constructions in the Alps (1857-1871). The tunnel is set off by a steam locomotive dating from the beginning of the century ans has a pemanent exhibition depicting the development ans consequences of the 1st alpine tunnel.


The Saint André mills
Discover the mills at Saint André with horizontal paddle wheels. One of these mills is on show in a museum in the hamlet of Pralognan. Traditional tools and objects can also be seen.

The art glassmaking of Avrieux

Come to discover the fascinating know-how of the glass-blower through single, useful and decorative creations. The glass-blower accomodates you every day, except saturdays, from10am to noon and 2:030pm to 7pm in its workshop and its gallery. Late night opening each Thursday.

The Baroque churches

The 3 villages - Avrieux, Villarodin and Bourget - are the proud owners of numerous churches and chapels built by their inhabitants in days of old. These shrines are a tribute to their faith, but also a way in which to express their conception of beauty and art. The Chapels of our village

The chapels were protecting lands, people and harvests against the misdeeds of illness, climate, even the mountain dangers. Built at various times, in often particular circumstances having marked the history of the country, these vaults were generally attended at the time of various processions, most of the time in the honor of their guards

The Muséo-bar :

This museum recalls the life of Modane at the beginning of the 20th century with the mechanical sound of the piano.

The fortified inheritance interpretation center

Opened from July 1st, in la Redoute Marie-Thérèse (10 mn away from La Norma). The 3 permanent rooms will present the fortified inheritance apline globally, but also more particularly the Esseillon's site, as well as the men who lived in these forts.

- Adults : 4.50€ - Children:7-16 ans : 3.00€ and - de 7 years : free

Easter Holiday: every day of 14 pm with 18 pm

Annual closure from October 15th to December 15th.
